Pearce, Lovejoy Two Wins From State Titles

Richardson Pearce, Lovejoy and Aubrey will represent the area in the UIL State Volleyball Tournament beginning Monday at Texas State University in San Marcos.

Richardson Pearce (44-5) advanced to the Class 4A Final Four by coming from behind to beat Red Oak 10-25, 23-25, 25-23, 25-22, 15-10 in the Region II final Saturday. The Lady Mustangs will play Brenham (40-6) Thursday at 7 p.m.

Lovejoy (41-7) will get a chance to defend its Class 3A state championship with a return trip to San Marcos. The Lady Leopards swept Texarkana Pleasant Grove, 25-19, 25-19, 25-14 in the Region II Final. Lovejoay will play Wimberley (33-12) Friday at 3 p.m.

Aubrey (36-9) will play in a Class 2A semifinal agaisnt Peaster at 3 p.m. on Thursday.
