The Eden Prairie boys track and field team won its first-ever State True Team championship by outscoring defending champion Mounds View, 844.50-839, in the Class AAA title meet on Thursday at Stillwater High School. It was a nip-and-tuck day for the Eagles, who led through the first three events, only to see teams such as Farmington and Forest Lake take over the top spot as rain and then twilight descended upon Pony Stadium. However, when the field events were tabulated, Eden Prairie re-took the top spot, then held off a late rally on a part of the Mounds View throwers that vaulted the Mustangs ahead of Roseville and into second place, which they held on to in the final tabulations. Claiming individual first-place finishes for Eden Prairie in the contest were: Robert Gunderson (110-meter high hurdles), Rumeal Harris (triple jump), Joshua Hendricks (discus) and the 4x800-meter relay team.
