While the 2010 class at Galena Park (Texas) North Shore has nearly been picked clean, college recruiters are starting early for the Mustangs’ 2011 prospects.
Offensive lineman Sedric Flowers is the headliner for next year’s North Shore class but two other defenders are starting to pick up offers.
Defensive back Miketavious Jones was offered early in early September by Oklahoma State, but picked up an offer from the University of Houston this week. Jones has already seen his defensive back-mate Alton Demby, who is a senior, commit to the Cougars.
Hybrid linebacker Derrick Matthews (6-foot-1, 190-pounds) was also offer by Houston this week. Matthews could play linebacker or move back to safety at the college level because of his speed.
“These are two very skilled defenders who show up on film,” coach David Aymond said. “They will also be early qualifiers.”
Tight end Devonte Davis will also be a coveted recruit in 2011, because of his athleticism and blocking abilities. Davis (6-foot-4, 190-pounds) has the frame to put on 20-plus pounds and is an exemplary student.
