Greenhill Soph Breaks State 1,500 Record in NYC

Greenhill sophomore Chelsey Sveinsson obliterated the state record in the women's 1,500 meters Saturday at the Reebok Grand Prix in New York City.

She finished in 4 minutes, 18.13 seconds, breaking the Texas high school 1,500 record time of 4:26.62 set in 2004 by Plano West's Erin Bedell.

Sveinsson finished 15th out of 16 runners, but was the only high school competitor racing against many of the world's best runners in the event.
