Football Playoffs Underway

A goal line stand in the third quarter helped Denton Guyer to its first ever playoff victory Thursday night. The Wildcats held off Saginaw Boswell, 21-13 at Dragon Stadium in Southlake. The Pioneers got the ball first and goal at the 3-yard line trailing 14-13, but couldn't cross the goal line and missed a field goal attempt. Boswell couldn't muster additional points as Guyer moved on to face Arlington Seguin next week. Seguin dispatched of Arlington Heights on Thursday, 23-17. Mansfield Timberview overcame an early 10-point deficit to oust Fort Worth Southwest, 35-21. Eric Stephens had 164 yards and three touchdowns for the Wolves, who will face the winner of the Birdville-Denton Ryan matchup. Springtown was bounced from the playoffs by Wichita Falls Rider, 42-7.
