Since July is our "Best Of" issue, we asked area coaches to recall some of the most memorable moments of the 2007-2008 school year. Here's what some of them had to say:
Since July is our "Best Of" issue, we asked area coaches to recall some of the most memorable moments of the 2007-2008 school year. Here's what some of them had to say:
Steve Ganninger
Grapevine Girls Basketball
My most memorable highlight from the last season was winning on a last-second shot against Colleyville Heritage. Erica Paskell took the inbounds pass with seven seconds left after CHHS hit a free throw to put them up by two. She took it the length of the floor, came off a pick up by Taylor Haynes, and hit a three pointer at the buzzer to win the game. It was probably one of the most exciting basketball moments I've been a part of.
Curt Culbertson
Martin Baseball
I was most proud of beating Lamar the last game of district to bring our district record to 14-0. I was also proud of Mike Hill and Shane Griffin for each throwing no-hitters this year.
Marchie Murdock
Legacy Basketball
Winning our first game of the year and our first game in school history against Arlington Martin. They have such a storied program that I could not believe it.
Mandy Rogers
Haltom Girls Basketball
Qualifying for the playoffs was a huge moment that we had worked for and it was wonderful for all our hard work to finally pay off. But one of my "other" most memorable moments was our game against Southlake. The bleachers were PACKED and the crowd was roaring on every possession. You couldn't even hear in the huddle. The administration, faculty, student body and community all truly got behind us. It was a great moment for our kids, the coaching staff and Haltom High School. And is one I will never forget.
