Get Your Peanuts and Popcorn

Finally a reason to sneak out of the office in the middle of the day

Now that I’ve made it out to a few baseball games, a couple of soccer tournaments, a golf shoot and two track meets, I can say spring has finally arrived. The Nike Pro-Nine Tournament in Owasso battled the rain as did the Wooden Bat Tournament in Sand Springs and Broken Arrow, but both eventually played all of their games.

Golf takes the cover this month with three of the top players in Eastern Oklahoma. Lee Prince is an outstanding golfer from Central High School and he’s putting Central golf on the map. Crystal Reeves from Broken Arrow is headed to Texas A&M to continue her playing career, but first she’s making a run at a state title, while Lily Boetcher from Holland Hall attempts to wrap up an SPC championship.

Now everyone knows Owasso plays baseball. But did you know their ace pitcher Brian Flynn has a nasty fastball with movement, a good curve and change-up and don’t let me forget that he’s 6-foot-8 and a lefty.

East Central has become an athletic powerhouse in the last decade and continuing that tradition in the Cardinals’ track team.

We’ve reached a milestone with this issue. Our student staff consisting of Amy Crowe, Jayme Turner, ShaQuysta Davis and Courtney Coulter are leaving us. This is the first student staff to complete a full year of covering events, games and friends for the magazine. They give us one final farewell in this month’s issue.
If its season re-caps you’re looking for, look no further than this month’s Game Plan. Steve Braun re-caps soccer, tennis, baseball, golf and track.
