The saga that is the recruiting process is finally starting to wind down for two big time athletes from Muskogee. Stacy McGee and Jameel Owens have talked with their share of suitors for the past couple of years and the decision time has finally come.

That decision came down to Tennessee, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, and Texas Tech. These Roughers have decided to continue their play together at the University of Oklahoma.

Oklahoma impressed Owens and McGee from the beginning and never let up.

McGee is a strong defensive force that challenged some of the greatest in Oklahoma High Schools this year. Playing in Class 6A against the likes of Union, Jenks, Broken Arrow, Owasso, and Booker T. Washington week in and week out is enough to make a kid grow up quickly.

Owens has been named the 52nd best player in the country according to a couple of recruiting services. High School Sports The Magazine has long ranked him as one of the Top 3 players in the state. He has the frame and the potential to be a big time receiver at the next level.

Both McGee and Owens follow former Sooner Seth Littrell as the Rougher pipeline continues rolling through Norman. Littrell has actually taken a detour to Lubbock, as an assistant coach for the Texas Tech Red Raiders after his playing days. Littrell utilized that Muskogee tie-in to try and lure these guys to West Texas, but in the end, they decided to follow Littrell’s college destiny, the Sooners.

Also making their commitments tonight were Trae Cook heading to Central Arkansas and Andre Anderson joining the ranks at Missouri State.

Talk about this news and others like it on the HSSTM Message Boards.
