A field of 144 golfers…perfect weather…and 18-holes of golf played at the Golf Club of Oklahoma are just part of the ingredients for success of VYPE High School Sports Magazine’s 3rd Annual Benefit Golf Classic.

This year’s event, held annually to support the Ronald McDonald House Charities, definitely had a little bit of everything including a couple of the game of golf’s rare accomplishments. During the morning, Claremore golfer Jeff Clagg’s eight iron shot holed out from 153 yards on the par-5 13th hole to complete a double eagle 2 for his team; followed later in the four member scramble tournament by a hole-in-one…almost…Fort Gibson golfer Brett Hayes used a “legal mulligan” to knock the ball in the cup on the Golf Club’s par-3 17th hole.

The real winner from the fun filled event was the Ronald McDonald House of Tulsa as funds raised through tournament sponsorships from local businesses and the 144 golfers produced a “real green jacket” in the form of a 10-thousand dollar check from VYPE High School Sports Magazine.

I had an excellent time with my group and the tournament,” said participant Randy Isbell. “Everything
went perfect from sign-in to breakfast, lunch and dinner. The course was in excellent shape and the beverage girl was on every other hole. This was the best tournament I have ever been a part of. Keep up the good work and tell the staff at Vype their hospitality was awesome and I can't wait for next year.”
