From 1977 to 1987 Tony Dorsett became one of the most famous Dallas Cowboys in history. After winning the Heisman Trophy at the University of Pittsburgh he was drafted by the Cowboys and made an immediate impact on the team. Winning Rookie of the Year in 1977 Dorsett would go on to become a four-time pro-bowler and an eventual Hall of Fame inductee in 1994. He finished his career with nearly 13,000 yards, he's a member of the Ring of Honor and a Superbowl champion. Tony Dorsett Takes Five with VYPE.

VYPE: Your old high school, Hopewell High School in Pennsylvania named their football stadium after you, do you ever get to go back and visit the place where this all started?
TD: I don’t get to catch a whole lot of the high school games, but I do get back. I go back to the University (Pittsburgh) five to ten times per year. It brings back so many memories of guys that I played with. I still love to watch the Panthers play.

VYPE: The high school athlete today is much more advanced in training techniques, nutrition and the coaches are more knowledgeable these days. Is that the reason these kids can come to a university as a freshman and have an instant impact?
TD: It’s a combination of all the above. There’s no question the kids are getting bigger and stronger. I think right now the coaches are more astute to the game. You can see some high school offenses running a pro style system. When you become more knowledgeable about the game you improve. The thing you don’t want to see is some of the antics that the kids see on T.V. and hope they keep things in perspective and do the things they need to do.

VYPE: So what has Tony D. been up to since being inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1994?
TD: I came on board with Hall of Fame Mortgage about three or four years ago. We’re here to help people who don’t know much about getting a mortgage and to do the right thing. Obviously the mortgage business has been taking a lot of hits in recent years, but we feel like we’ve got a good group of people that can walk you through it step by step and not get someone involved in a mortgage that they really don’t need to be involved in. Our main office is in Dallas, but we have satellite branches all over Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas. I don't make loans I just try to be a PR person for them and help spread the word about the great work they're doing.

VYPE: What's the experience like being inducted into the Hall of Fame?
TD: There's so many people to thank I know I left someone out, but it's a great honor. You play the game of football your entire life and for your achievements to be honored with the other greats of the game is indescribable.

VYPE: Who’s the best running back in the NFL right now?
TD: Wow, right now? The first name that comes to mind is Ladanian Tomlinson. Dallas has some nice young backs and then there’s the kid coming in from Oklahoma, Adrian Peterson. He had one heck of a year as a rookie, but right now I have to say it’s LT.

Next week check out UFC fighter Gerald Harris as his run on the TV show The Ultimate Fighter comes to an end and he sits down with VYPE to Take Five.
