The game was delayed, then moved and finally at 9:45pm the game was under way. But Bixby and Chickasha didn't care. They were ready to play and determine who would win Class 5A.
In the second inning Bixby jumped out to a 1-0 lead on a wild pitch from Chickasha pitcher Kennedy Winn. Bixby's Ricky Grinstead had just hit a triple when Winn let one go that went to the back stop. In the fifth inning both teams posted another run making it 2-1 going into the sixth inning. That's when Bixby came to life and never looked back. Ryan williams hit a double to score Tyler Jeffers. Bixby would hold on to the 4-1 lead and shut out Chickasha for the rest of the game.
Bixby finished the season with a 28-9 record overall. Jon Furlong was the winning pitcher for the Spartans and the victory marked his fourth consecutive complete game.
