I hear that Plano West senior Jacqueline Jeffcoat will commit to play basketball at Oklahoma. She has received offers from the NCAA finalists as well as Arizona State, Georgia, Louisville and TCU.
The daughter of former Dallas Cowboys defensive lineman Jim Jeffcoat is the twin sister of West defensive end and basketball big man Jackson Jeffcoat, who is entering his senior season as one of the nation’s top-ranked football recruits.
Jackson is said to be considering football offers from Georgia, LSU, Notre Dame, OU, Texas and USC.
Will his sister’s commitment lead him to Norman, too? Stay tuned.
Rockwall QB Commits to SD State
The Dallas Morning News is reporting that Rockwall quarterback Adam Dingwell has committed to San Diego State.
Dingwell made the decision after attending State’s football camp last week.
He was 124 of 201, for 1,731 yards and 15 TD last season.
Two Coaching Tragedies
The shooting death of legendary Iowa high school football coach Ed Thomas sent me back to the climactic scene in the motion picture “The World According to Garp.” In the movie, lead character T.S. Garp – played by Robin Williams – is shot during wrestling practice at a high school gym.
You can be that some school districts are evaluating their off-season school safety after this episode.
The other possible tragic news comes from our VYPE coaching community. Ennis high school coach Sam Harrell – father of Texas Tech quarterback hero Graham, as well as, Prosper assistant coach Zac and Abilene Christian quarterback Clark, revealed that he was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis four years ago. Harrell has decided to let his players, coaches and the public in on his MS because the condition is worsening. Here’s hoping Harrell can remain a big part of Ennis football for many years to come.

Taylor Jungmann vs. Plano West
Did the Texas Longhorns baseball team lose a few rooters in West Plano when Taylor Jungmann took the mound? The freshman sensation pitched the Horns to victory over LSU in Game Two of the College World Series championship series. Plano West baseball boosters had their fill of Jungmann and his Georgetown High School team in the 2007 and 2008 playoffs. Jungmann and G’Town came out on top in 2007 and West won in 2008 on its way to a 5A state title. Those playoff series created some bad blood between the two schools and their boosters.
