No. 1 Pearce Falls in State Semifinal

Top-ranked Richardson Pearce's drive to a state championship ended abruptly in a loss to Brenham in a Class 4A state semifinal.

Pearce (44-6), making its first visit to the state's final four, was swept, 25-21, 25-22, 27-25.

The Mustangs entered the match enjoying a two-month long unbeaten streak.

Aubrey Advances

Aubrey will play for the Class 2A state title after rallying for a win over Peaster in a semifinal match Thursday.

Aubrey fell behind 15-25, before sweeping the next three games, 25-23, 25-18 and 28-6.

Aubrey will play Poth on Saturday at 11 a.m. for the 2A championship.
