Lawrence North to participate in 2008 T-Mobile Invitational

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind., — November 11, 2008 - Two of the nation’s top high school basketball players - Derrick Favors of Atlanta (Georgia) South Atlanta High School and Skylar Diggins of South Bend (Indiana) Washington High School - headline the four boys teams and four girls teams set to compete in the 2008 T-Mobile Invitational national high school basketball tournament. The National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) and T-Mobile USA, Inc. today announced the eight-team field for this year’s event, which will be held December 29-30 at Ball State University’s Worthen Arena in Muncie, Indiana. The NFHS-member Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) will serve as the tournament’s host state association. As such, two Indiana high schools were invited to participate in the tournament. JAMESTOWN RAGSDALE WINS CAROLINA CUP

RALEIGH— Jamestown Ragsdale captured the top honor, the Carolina Cup, in the sixth annual North Carolina High School Athletic Association state invitational cheerleading championships at the Raleigh Convention Center on Saturday. Cheer Ltd., Inc., one of the NCHSAA’s corporate partners that assists with the invitational championship, established the Carolina Cup to recognize annually the top high school varsity cheerleading team in the state. Cardinal Gibbons won the Cup for earning the highest cumulative score in the whole competition among varsity teams, regardless of the division in which they compete. Cardinal Gibbons, North Gaston and Raleigh Sanderson are the previous winners of the Carolina Cup. Ragsdale won the super varsity division en route to winning the Carolina Cup. VYPE High School Sports Magazine announced today a partnership with Time Warner Cable in Dallas to co-produce a weekly high school sports program - VYPE-Metro Sports High School Report - which debuted Thursday, September 4, 2008.
