McKinney Boyd freshman Kelley Monogue named All-Collin County MVP.
Kelley Monogue’s breakthrough freshman season has earned her Most Valuable Player honors for the 2008 All-Collin County Soccer Team. Monogue gained notice when she scored 20 goals in her first regular season, then turned more heads by scoring nine goals in McKinney Boyd’s playoff run. She was name MVP of the title game in which she scored a goal, added an assist and consistently pounded shots at the Wichita Falls Rider goal.
McKinney’s Amanda Frisbie (27 goals, 17 assists) and Allen’s Kelsey Perlman (23 goals, 15 assists) shared Offensive Player of the Year honors.
Monogue’s teammate, senior Katherine Cox, was named Defensive Player of the Year.
Plano West sophomore Lynda Hercules was voted Newcomer of the Year.
Plano East coach Dawn Crow, who led East to the Class 5A state finals, joined Boyd coach Jimmie Lankford as Co-Coaches of the Year.
