Collin County private-school baseball and softball teams were well represented by 16 players earning in TAPPS postseason honors.
Trinity Christian’s James Foster and Prestonwood Christian’s Jordan Swagerty were named to all-state first teams in the larger TAPPS classifications. Legacy Christian had a trio of players – Logan Allison, Mason Leavitt and Casey Mauch – voted to the Class 2A first team.

Celina, Wakeland Take Honors

Celina and Frisco Wakeland continued their duel for District 9-3A baseball and softball prominence into the postseason. Wakeland’s Jordan Baker and Celina’s Joey Cronin earned the district’s baseball and softball Most Valuable Player honors, respectively. Baker was 8-2 for the Wolverines with a 1.63 ERA. Cronin batted .519 with 41 RBIs and seven home runs.

McKinney North’s sweep of the District 9-4A baseball and softball titles were reflected in the school’s dominance of postseason awards.
North catcher Trey Sorrells was voted co-Most Valuable Player along with McKinney pitcher Zach Lee. North shortstop Kathy Shelton claimed softball MVP honors.

Plano’s bid to send their state championship hopes into overtime was knocked off course by Jesuit. A last-second shot by Plano’s Jason Bell gave the Wildcats hope of tying the Texas Amateur Hockey Association (TAHA) finals match at 2 until Jesuit goalie Robbie Nichols deflected the puck away.

Trinity Christian Academy wrestlers won two TAPPS state wrestling titles to help the Trojans finish third.
