Most would say cross-country is an "individual" sport, but my girls realize it's anything but. They build up each other's confidence through pre-race chants and tough workout encouragements; support through post-race discussions; have friendships through shared stories and laughter at practice. These girls know that in order to win, they must be a team and that makes them a joy to coach!

In my coaching experience, I have found that it is hard to find players who are willing to put in the work to earn their spot and playing time. This year we are only playing with 13 eligible players everyone comes to practice ready to work. They are all willing to sweat a little to earn their role on the team and I truly appreciate the effort and work ethic.

I think high school soccer is a great sport for girls. It is an activity that allows you to get many student athletes involved. Soccer is a wonderful way to transition into the start of school. I believe that coaching is extension of teaching in the classroom. For me, coaching high school boys or girls is very similar. At Park, our student athletes are very good people. They want to succeed and they are willing to work.

My favorite part about coaching a girl's tennis team is the comradery they bring to the sport. They work very hard to be both competitive on the court and are also very dedicated to supporting one another and making sure everyone has fun. It is this unique mix that makes coaching a girls sport very rewarding.
