No doubt, every coach wants to win a state championship. But not everyone can.
So, with that in mind, we asked four football coaches, if they couldn’t win it all, who would they like to see take home the gold ball.

“Jody Weber at Davis. He puts out a great football team every year. His win-loss percentage has to be very high. Davis has had some bad luck in the playoffs, and if they catch a few breaks they could do it. On top of all that Jody is a great guy. He will talk football with you anytime. He always has time for other coaches.’’

“Well, that’s a good one. Let’s see. Well, he’s in my own league, but I’d say Ernie Manning at Lawton MacArthur. They should have won it last year. He does it right, works hard, and he has the cats to back it up this year. You have to have a lot of luck to win a state title. You almost have to earn the luck.’’

“I’d like my best best coaching friend, Dan Cocannouer at Edmond Santa Fe. He is my best friend and he has worked and prepared his whole life to get a chance to win. He’s ready.’’

“I’d like to see Carl Albert win, because I have a vested interest over there. I have to go with my son and nephew’s team. Joe Stoner is my nephew and Pierre Alexander is my son. This year it will be tough to see games, but I’ll get to see some of them. I know they’ve won a lot, but I want my kids to do well.’’
