The most exciting part for me is to see kids coming into the high school program as 10th graders and then leave as 12th graders, the amount of hard work they put into it through their hard work and dedication. Of course, I love the competition. Since I played in school, basketball was about the only sport we had when I was at Green Forest in the 60s. I love the game and love the competition. I think it’s a great game and usually the kids who work the hardest and spend the most time at it make the best players.

“The most exciting to me is I enjoy it when it’s coming down to the last couple of minutes of the game and being able to out think your opponent’s. You’re thinking one way and he’s thinking another way and you’re trying to think what he’s thinking. Trying to figure out what move they are going to make. It’s a chess game. The motivating part of motivating kids to play is another thing I really enjoy.”

“The most exciting part of the season is state tournament time. The whole feel changes at tournament time. As far as the game, anything inside a minute when it’s still in doubt, that’s the most exciting part of the game. But for me, it’s all about state tournament time. That’s what were all chasing and it all comes down to those two weeks, that’s the best time for me.”

“The most exciting part of a game is probably just the competition itself. Knowing that you’ve kind of worked toward the game and kids have worked for the game and the competition that comes with trying to win that game. Coaches would be lying is they said winning wasn’t pretty excited. That’s the most exciting part of it. Losing is not a good thing, but normally a win is not as big as you think it is and a loss is not as big as you think it is. But it’s knowing you’ve put in the hours and now it’s time to go do it.”
