It was one of the worst springs in recent memory weather-wise. How did your team deal with the poor and unpredictable conditions this season?

I think there are two key aspects that allowed our team to deal with this crazy weather. One is our upper classmen providing great motivation/vision and the other is building on tradition. Providing a why for practicing or competing in weather like this spring allows students to better understand the big picture too.

I have always told my players to never complain about the weather conditions. Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain! We practiced inside a lot and brought lots of tarps, tents, extra cloths, towels and an enclosed trailer to keep much of the equipment dry and out of the elements.

This spring was rough on all sports. In golf, having to wear extra layers while swinging makes for a long day. As a team, I think we faired well due to our experience on the team. If I had a lot of rookies it would make it more difficult. The scores have come down dramatically in the past week due to the more seasonable weather.

The team did a great job of adapting and adjusting to the playing environments. They played tough through the cold, snow, wind, and rain. My co-coach, Scott Leonard, and I were happy to see some of our biggest wins come during the worst conditions. Even though the weather made for an unpredictable spring schedule, we had a great overall season of success.
