Baseball is year-round in Houston with tournament baseball. How do you keep kids fresh during the high school season and not burned out?
Jason Washburn
The Woodlands College Park
I like to give our guys the fall off. We do a lot of strength and conditioning. We spend very little time doing baseball skills in the fall. I want them hungry in January.
Stacy Scheiner,
Oak Ridge High School
If a player has a love of the game, and plays the game with passion it is real hard to get burned out. Baseball players do need a little down time, but those players that are true players and love the game, it is hard to get burned out.
Tom McPherson
Katy High School
We try and get away from the game for a while, and rest their arms. We do a lot of conditioning and just fundamental work.
Ron Eastman
The Woodlands High School
My focus is more on the mental aspect than the physical burn out. We try and emphasize the team, and try and get the guys to buy into what we’re doing as a team.
