Youth: Giving Back
Central Oklahoma, OK
Peterson and other NFL stars scheduled for Performance Sports Center’s free football clinic in March
More than 20 NFL football players, including former Oklahoma running back Adrian Peterson, will be at the Performance Sports Center in Edmond to host a football clinic for young athletes.
The event is free to the public and will be held from noon-3 p.m. on March 29. Donations will be accepted to benefit the Cato June Scholarship of Champions and the Summer Breeze Backpack Drive, which provides fans to those in need during the hot Oklahoma summer months. Backpacks will be filled with supplies for children preparing for school in the fall.
The participating athletes will teach various techniques to be successful in football. The athletes will provide position-based stations and sign autographs during the clinic.
Just a few of the athletes who are scheduled to appear are R.W. McQuarters, Cato June, Corey Ivy, J.D. Runells, Marcellus Rivers and Mark Clayton.
The event is in conjunction with The Carrie Garth Wells Institute as well as with Terrance Jackson & Friends. Over the past few years, Terrance Jackson and the Carrie Garth Wells Institute have raised money and provided volunteer services for the disadvantaged communities in Oklahoma City.
In addition, the Christmas Angels program provides gifts for children who may not otherwise receive a gift during the holiday season.
Other NFL players scheduled to appear are Al Wilson, Denver; Antoine Bethea, Indianapolis; Brandon Williams, Cincinnati; Chris Perry, Cincinnati; Clinton Portis, Washington; Darren Sharper, Minnesota, and others.
