District 3A-2

Predictions

1. Marlow
2. Purcell
3. Bethany
4. Dickson
5. Northeast
6. Madill
7. Pauls Valley
8. Lone Grove

What you need to know: This district is very top heavy. Marlow is loaded with talent for new head coach Barry Foster, who comes over from Rush Springs. Bethany moves up to Class 3A after reaching the semifinals in 2A a year ago. Purcell is a constant in the playoffs the past few years. One team to watch as a sleeper could be Pauls Valley, who has one of the best running backs in the class in Tyler Harding.

Player to watch: Tyler Harding, Pauls Valley. The junior should improve on his numbers from a year ago when he was one of the top runners in 3A with over 1,000 yards as a sophomore. He is small, but fast and strong.

Others to check out: QB Chance Rice, Marlow(6-0, jr.); QB Darryl White, Northeast(jr.); LB Lance Crampton, Marlow(5-9, 180, sr.); RB JR Madden and Stanley Brown, Purcell (sr.); WR Michael Coats, Bethany(sr.); RB/LB Chris Gillespie, Dickson(6-0, 175, jr.); WR DJ Epley, Lone Grove(5-7, 160, sr.); QB Spencer Bond, Madill(6-1, 180, so.).

One game you have to see: It's the season opener Sept. 5 with Tuttle at Marlow. The two teams have created quite a rivalry over the years with some fantastic playoff games. THis game should be no different and will feature two state championship contenders.
