District 3A-4

Prediction

1. Metro Christian
2. Idabel
3. Roland
4. Hugo
5. Checotah
6. Bristow
7. Okmulgee
8. Kellyville

What you need to know: After a 9-2 season a year ago, Metro Christian returns a good group of players that should be able to go deeper than just one round of the playoffs. Idabel and Roland are also teams that will start the season in VYPE's Top 10.

Player to watch: Wide receiver Colton Blankenship of Metro Christian had 40 catches last year and five touchdowns. The 5-foot-10, 170-pound Blankenship is a senior this season.

Others to check out: TE Mike Cain, Okmulgee 6-2, 215, Sr.); DB Jake Schooley, Metro Christian (5-11, 170, Jr.); WR Tareekus Broades, Idabel (5-11, 180, Sr.); QB Drew Roberts, Roland; QB Brian Marts, Kellyville (6-1, 190, Sr.); WR Brandon Watkins, Hugo; LB Justin Roberts, Checotah (6-2, 210, Sr.); RB Brandon Goodson, Bristow (5-11, 225).

One game you have to see: Idabel vs. Broken Bow may be the best rivalry game in the state, despite the fact that it's so far removed from the rest of the state. The two schools face each other on Sept. 6 at Broken Bow.
