Edmond to host The Oklahoma Showdown, a 7-on-7 passing camp

The Oklahoma Showdown, a 7-on-7 passing tournament, sponsored by High School Sports the Magazine, will be July 11-12 in Edmond.

There will be three pools of six teams and each team plays the other five in its pool. An elimination tournament begins Saturday, with the the championship game will at 3 p.m. on July 12 at Edmond North.

Pool play begins at 9 a.m. on July 11.

Each team plays with five players on offense and seven on defense and each possession begins at the 40 yard line. Teams are given three downs to make a first down – by crossing the 25-yard line and again at the 10-yard line.

Touchdowns are worth six points and interceptions are worth two points for the defense. There are no running plays and the quarterback must throw the ball in 4 seconds or less after the ball is snapped. A one-hand touch serves as a tackle.

Games are played on a 30-minute running clock.

Team and individual awards will be presented and all games will be played on the artifical turf at Edmond Memorial, Santa Fe and North. Certified officials will also be used.
