The summer basketball camp info is starting to fill up your mail box.
Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Tulsa, Oklahoma Christian, Sports City U.
Now the fun begins, where do you want to send your child to basketball camp? Many people will send their children to one or two camps a summer, but how do you decide with all the options out there?
First, you need to determine what you want your child to get out of each camp. Do you want them to commute or stay overnight?
Are you looking for specific training or specific positional training?
Are you looking for them to meet college players they see on television each week?
Whatever the reasoning, there is a basketball camp out there for everyone.
Many kids wanting to meet college players and stay on college campuses will choose to go to one of the local college camps. This is a great way to work with players they see on TV. These camps are also great for players wanting to get away and stay in the dorms away from home, many for the first time. Kids here get that feeling of being on their own, getting a lot of playing time and enjoying the “college experience.’’
Also, many colleges offer elite camps. These camps are for upper-level players, many of whom the college may be recruiting. These camps are great if you feel you can play at that school and want to showcase your skills in front of the coaching staff.
If you are looking for total skill development and skill training that is offered through summer camps, with the option of follow-up training, you need to look for specific skill based camps. These camps offered by different basketball academies provide more skill instruction, and less play than most college camps.
Sports City U offers camps of this magnitude. With everything from Individual Skills Camps to Shooting Camp to the high-level Extreme Hoops Camp, SCU provides players from all levels and abilities the chance to improve their game. Plus, this program can be taught year-round with follow-up training college camps can’t do.
All parents need to make sure the camp they are selecting is providing them with the opportunities they are looking for. Ask questions about who is instructing the camps, ask for credentials that can be verified, even go as far as background checks. These are great ways to ensure that your child will have a quality, and safe camp experience.
