We asked a few area coaches which city golf course they liked the best. Here’s what they had to say:
Jeff Doherty
Edmond North boy's golf
"My favorite country club is Oak Tree. The reason is you get to play at a golf course set up for pro golfers. You get to see how bad you really are or how good the pros really are. My favorite public course is Lincoln West. It's just a fun course to play. It's a fair, but challenging course with a lot of fun holes."
Mike Goff
Carl Albert boys golf
"My favorite private course is Twin Hills because it is so challenging for me. It has so many trees and it's an old style golf course. It's been around since I think the 1920's. It has small greens and narrow fairways. My favorite and the toughest hole is probably the first one. It's a severe dogleg to the right. My favorite public course is our home course, John Conrad. It's accessible and in really good shape. The toughest hole is No. 17 because it is a long par 4."
Mike Stolz
Edmond Santa Fe boys golf
"It's probably Lincoln West. I worked there one summer and really enjoyed it. It's a public course so anyone can play it, but it's still challenging. You can play good and get a low score and you can play bad and get a high score. Their par 3's are the toughest around. They are hard to play. That is the secret to playing that course well, the par 3 holes. Hopefully, we play it well this year since the 6A boy's tournament is there."
