Rachel King, a Senior at Kapaun Mt. Carmel and a Varsity softball player, gives her time and talent not only to the team and the school but also to the community.  Rachel is a Big Sister for Big Brothers Big Sisters.  She also is involved in National Honors Society giving her opportunities to interact and volunteer her time with the elderly and Nuns on a monthly basis.  Rachel is also part of the Wichita Mayor's Youth Council, in which she is helping with Housing First for the homeless, works the Shoe Drive for the Kansas Podietry Associates, and also works Voter Registration for the community.  She is also part of the committee for developing the school calendars for Wichita Area High Schools.

Rachel is also having a great season, with her current cumulative batting average at .500 and a perfect fielding percentage at Short stop.  She is our lead off hitter and inspritational leader on the ball field.  She posseses great leadership abilities both on the field, in school, and in the community.

Rachel will attend Kansas State University and plans to major in Political Science and Communications.

***  This is her softball coach that is recommending this story be published in VYPE.  I feel her hard work, dedication, and positive attitude deserve attention and public recognition.
