On behalf of the coaches association, Goessel boys head basketball coach Justin Coup released the rosters for the KBCA all-star this August and the coaches' all-class selections. A glaring deficiency in the KBCA all-star game selections was the lack of Wichita Heights basketball player. Heights, which won the Class 6A state title in March, had neither Dorrian Roberts nor Austin Bahner selected. Southeast, however, which was beaten three times this season by Heights, including by 15 points in the state title game, had two guards selected to the team, Joe Mitchell and Cecil Shaw. The coaches association puts on the all-star game every August to honor the state's top graduated senior players. Bryce Mayes, who averaged over 30 points per game for Class 2A Oxford this season, was selected to the South squad along with Mitchell and Shaw. The South will be predominantly made up of guards, with only one player surmounting 6'3", Andover High's Luke Meisch at 6'5". All selections pend on each player's acceptance of the invitation to play in the game. Here are the complete rosters for the boys all-star game: South Joe Mitchell, Southeast Luke Meisch, Andover Andrew Hourani, Collegiate Bryce Mayes, Oxford Stuart Jeck, Pittsburg Colgan Brandon Newton, Crest Cecil Shaw, Southeast Jack Shoup, Salina Central Chase Dippel, Smoky Valley Jordan Wilcox, Holcomb Adam Bruner, McPherson Taylor Euler, Emporia North Brandon Ubel, Blue Valley West Canon Fields, Highland Park Jeff Reid, Topeka Hayden Mitch Allen, Sabetha Ben Steinlage, Centralia Dorian Green, Lawrence Bryce Simons, Topeka Seaman Neil Watson, KC Sumner Dan Mundweiler, Olathe East Zach Bourquin, St. Thomas Aquinas Spencer Hemmert, Wakeeney-Trego Zach Danner, Hays The coaches selected Hayden's Jeff Reid as Mr. Kansas Basketball. Kim Lohse of Hanover was selected coach of the year. Burrton junior Alex Santiago was chosen second-team all-state in Class 1A. Oxford's Bryce Mayes made first team in 2A. The south central Kansas area garnered five of the top ten spots in Class 3A. Collegiate's Andrew Hourani made first team, while four others made second team: Collegiate's Blake Jablonski, Bluestem's Darius Semisch, Douglass' Blake Nachbor and Trinity Catholic's Conor Reilly. Jablonski and Nachbor return as seniors next season. In 4A, in addition to Meisch making first team, Cheney sophomore Sean Osler made second team.
