District 11

1. Andover Trojans (9-2)

Third-year coach Mike Lee has two winning seasons under his belt at Andover, including nine wins in 2008. Wins over Andover Central mid-season and Mulvane in the first round of playoffs highlighted the surge of Andover football.

Aaron Hansen (5-10 170) has quarterbacked the Trojans in each of Lee’s seasons as coach. Three offensive linemen return in front of Hansen: OL/DE Parker Smith (6-0, 220), OL/DT Luke Linder (6-2, 220) and OL/DE Kevin Lytle (6-2, 200).

Starters DE Britton Chambers (5-10, 180), TE/LB Alex Goldberg (6-1, 190) and defensive backs Caleb Windholz (6-0, 180) and Kyle Ray (5-10, 175) return to the defense. –TW

2. Circle Thunderbirds (2-7)

Coach Lee Lamunyon enters his third season with Circle, returning 12 starters and 16 lettermen.

Lamunyon must develop the offensive line, which is led by senior returning starters OL/LB Michael Dubus (5-11, 210) and OL/DL Brandon Wagner (5-11, 190). Seniors QB Eric Shepherd (6-5, 185) and LB Ty Lowmaster (5-11, 190) also return.

Between TE/DL Jordan Phillips (6-6, 280) and WR/FS Alex Gardinier (6-2, 185), the junior class has excellent talent. Juniors TB/DB Kanyon Kinder (5-10, 175), FB/LB Dylan Bilson (6-0, 200) and WR/DB Richard Mould (5-10, 165) also return. –KDK

3. El Dorado Wildcats (4-6)

El Dorado recovered from a 2-4 start in 2008 to make the playoffs in coach Bruce Graber’s third season as coach. Seven starters return from a 34-7 first-round loss to Andover Central.

Senior QB/WR/DB Christian Locke (5-10, 170) returns, as does two-way lineman Dylan Walker. Two returning lettermen and a newcomer step into the backfield.

El Dorado has increased its win total in each of Graber’s previous three seasons. –TW

4. Augusta Orioles (0-9)

A season after going winless and losing by a deficit less than two touchdowns only once, Augusta and coach Steve Pazzie must find a starting point for success.

Augusta’s string of losses began recently, however, having won a league title in 2005. Pazzie, entering his 19th season as head coach and 29th at Augusta, returns eight lettermen. –TW
