District 10
1. Topeka Hayden (13-1) loses 23 seniors, including all-state quarterback T.J. McGreevy, but a predominantly 5A/6A schedule will have tested a young lineup entering district play. The defending state champs return just one starter, Sebastian Adame (5-9, 160, 55 tackles)… 2. Abilene (6-4), which has lost in the first round of the playoffs three of the past four seasons, returns 13 starters, including sophomore OT Cody Whitehair (6-5, 295) and senior WR/FS Curry Sexton (6-0, 170, 1,315 total yards). –TW
3. Hesston Swathers (6-3)
Hesston returns six players with starting experience on the offensive line in coach Nate Wollenberg’s fifth season. After suffering home district losses to Hayden and Abilene in 2008, Hesston must beat both teams on the road to get back to the playoffs in 2009.
Thirteen starters return overall, including senior RB/LB Chad Wollenberg (6-0, 228), senior L Parker Broadfoot (5-11, 264) and senior QB/LB Clint Janzen (5-11, 182). –TW
4. Chapman (2-7) returns three starters in coach Jeff Schwinn’s second season. –TW
