Deluge Postpones Friday Football

With over 8.27 inches of rain in the first 11 hours today, the Wichita area is underwater this evening, causing many of Friday night's match-ups to be postponed and relocated. Three games have been moved to Maize High School tomorrow as a result of the downpour. Kapaun will face Heights at 11 a.m. Maize will face visiting Blue Valley North next at 2 p.m. Then Bishop Carroll will face its rival Northwest in a City League showdown at 7 P.M. The games were all moved to Maize because the Eagles have an artificial turf field that will not be greatly affected by the showers. Heights and Carroll were supposed to host games on Friday, but their grass fields were both flooded. South and Southeast were set to play at Northwest's field, but the field there was also covered. That game will be relocated to Circle High and will start about an hour from now. Circle is set to travel to La Cygne-Prairie view on Saturday. The Dodge City-East game was to be played at Carpenter Stadium, but it will be relocated to Campus High's home field at Haysville Middle School. Campus will host McPherson tonight. Most AVCTL and Central Plains postponements have been moved to Saturday or Monday, though some are still in doubt. Here is a list of all the changes.
