Bishop Carroll and Wichita Heights face each other in the season opener at Heights next Thursday. With the early start date these two teams will have to be ready before the rest of the teams in the state. A week into practice, Bishop Carroll has already found itself with a few injuries. In addition to tight end Joe Brown, who injured his leg in a summer camp at the University of Kansas, Carroll defensive end Garrett Kraft has hit the injured reserve list. Kraft is believed to have a stress fracture in his back earlier this summer and will undergo a bone scan later this week to diagnose the injury. "Right now he is on our injured reserve and we'll see what happens with the bone scan," said defensive coordinator Jim Nance. "When we started practice with pads last week, it was obvious that he was straining a little bit." Kraft is one of the top defensive linemen in the state and his presence will be huge on a Bishop Carroll line that returns three starters.
