“I have been part of the Wendy’s High School Heisman Program and have served on the Selection Committee from the beginning. It has been a great program for Wendy’s, the Heisman and student-athletes from all over the country.” – Steve Owens, Oklahoma University, 1969 Heisman Trophy Winner

For eight generations, the Heisman name has signified excellence, determination, and prestige among college football’s elite. In 1994, the next level of outstanding achievers ensconced their names into Heisman lore when the Wendy’s High School Heisman was created.

The program has set the standard for high school student-athletes and gained tremendous prestige. Each fall, the program recognizes the nation’s most esteemed high school seniors for excellence in academics, athletics, and community and school involvement.

To date, more than 150,000 high school students have represented their schools and been touched by the Heisman mystique. Of that number, 157 have progressed to the national finalist level, with 26 earning the designation of Wendy’s High School Heisman National Award Winners.

Nominees can be submitted to www.wendyshighschoolheisman.com.

“I have been part of the Wendy’s High School Heisman Program and have served on the Selection Committee from the beginning,” said 1969 Heisman Trophy winner Steve Owens. “It has been a great program for Wendy’s, the Heisman and student-athletes from all over the country. It is such a thrill each year to go back and see the award winners and also visit with some of the past winners. It is a great honor for me and I look forward each year to being able to participate in such an outstanding program.”

Award Concept
The Wendy’s High School Heisman Award is presented annually to one male and one female high school senior who best exemplify the designation of scholar-citizen-athletes.

Who's Eligible
Men and women entering their senior year of high school who have at least a “B” grade average and participate in at least one of 33 sports officially sanctioned by the National Federation of State High Schools. Students are judged on their academic achievements, community and school service and athletic accomplishments.

Award History
The program was created in 1994, with more than 6,200 nominations submitted in the first year from high schools nationwide. Since then, more than 150,000 students have been nominated and 26 have joined the prestigious Heisman.
