Augusta Sophomore Alec Hess won his division at the Nebraska Elite Quarterback Academy for the second summer in a row.

"Right now, Alec's passing seems to be his strength," said Pazzie. "His form is much more developed than his strength and work ethic are. When he improves in those areas, hopefully he will be ready to lead the team."

The Nebraska Elite Quarterback Academy is little known to many here in Wichita, but when life-long Husker fan Alec Hess heard about the camp, he knew he had to be there.

After a successful freshman campaign, Hess traveled to Lincoln once again this summer to defend his camp title. In a competition based on passing performance, Hess defeated all sophomore competition again.

As far as the upcoming season at Augusta High goes, coach Steve Pazzie said that Hess will improve more this season in order to be a starter in the future for the Orioles.

"Alec will have to develop with our junior varsity squad this year," said Pazzie. "We have a senior quarterback right now that Alec will have to develop under, and he seems to be doing a good job of that right now."

Hess, who checks out at 6'0" and 145 pounds, needs to develop in the weight room according to Pazzie. In addition, the young quarterback needs to gain the experience needed for Friday night varsity football.

"Right now, Alec's passing seems to be his strength," said Pazzie. "His form is much more developed than his strength and work ethic are. When he improves in those areas, hopefully he will be ready to lead the team."
