Last month I sample Alice Cooper and this month Barbara Streisand? I need professional help.

Our July issue celebrates HSSTM’s first year of publishing with our annual Year in Review issue. It seems like only last month we were doing our inaugural issue in August of 2007. It has been a tremendous journey! On that journey we have met great kids, passionate coaches and strong families. Consider our July issue a “yearbook” on the lifestyle of the high school student-athlete, a keepsake to remind us all of the memories of the way we were.

Memories of the way we were is also a fitting description of how HSSTM is rebranding itself to even better capture the lifestyle of the high school athlete.

As we introduced in June, in the coming months you’ll start to see some big changes in our publication. Get ready for a new, high-powered brand that will focus on you – the lives and lifestyles of our local high school athletes.

In our September 2008 issue we will be launching our new brand: VYPE. As a play on the words “varsity” and “hype,” we will celebrate not only the latest in high school varsity sports but will enhance our coverage to include the lifestyles of high school athletes. We’ll cover what makes athletes tick, what the latest trends are in sportswear, how athletes prepare for college, etc. VYPE will be your complete tool to find real content about real athletes you know – covered by local editors.

Leading the way for our new brand is the magazine’s online community at www.VYPE.com. We want to know about you! Post your clips. Start a blog. Tell us about the big game. Connect with other athletes from around the county. And browse and purchase the latest in sporting goods at our new online store.

We are thrilled about the changes to come and know that you will be too.

And speaking of memories, please remember our sponsors and let them know how much you appreciate their support of your kids and schools. Without our sponsors’ support and your patronage of their businesses, we would not be able provide our celebration of high school athletics.

Next month, football preview! Unbelievable! I look forward to the new memories.
