Brown Out 6-8 Weeks

Central Kansas, KS

Saturday, June 28, 2008

Bishop Carroll senior tight end and fullback Joe Brown broke his leg at a Kansas University camp two weeks ago. The leg has been surgically repaired and should only keep him out for 6-8 weeks, according to Carroll coach Alan Schuckman. "He was in great shape, had trained hard and tested well [at camps]," said Schuckman. "Joe Brown is one of the best players in the state. He's hard-nosed, and if any kid can handle this, he can." Brown has proved his grit before. He played in last fall's 5A state title game against Blue Valley West with a torn miniscus. He was one of the team's bright spots in a 31-19 title-game loss. Brown ended his 2007 junior season having gained over 1,000 yards receiving and rushing. Schuckman said Brown has been getting looks from NCAA Division I programs to play football next year. Bishop Carroll currently has six graduated players on the rosters of Division I football programs.
