Remembering a teammate
The Western Boone girls and boys track teams paid respects to teammate Natalie Duke during an April meet, just a few days after Duke tragically passed away in a car accident in rural Boone County. The team led an honorary 400-meter run (below) in remembrance of Duke, who was a beloved student-athlete at the school. Just finishing her sophomore year, Duke was a member of the school record-holding 1,600 meter relay team last season and had been named the Shelbourne Knee Center’s Comeback Athlete of the Month in the September issue of HSSTM.
