2 Years and Counting

Central Indiana, IN

Wednesday, April 1, 2009

Time sure does fly when you're having fun. Can you believe it? We can't. It's been two years since VYPE High School Sports Magazine released its inaugural issue. But we couldn't have done it without you - the advertisers, readers, athletic directors, coaches, parents and, most importantly, the student-athletes. To celebrate our 24-month milestone, we bring you the "Best Cover" of Year Two as voted upon by the athletic directors, and, of course, we're pleased to share some of their thoughts. Feel free to share your favorite Year Two moments with us by e-mailing letters.centralindiana@vype.com. Thanks for all that you have done for high school sports reporting. It is great to see athletes from all different schools recognized for their efforts. I think that you have done a great job in developing interesting stories and pictures of all different types of athletes. Keep up the great work! Mike Sipe, Perry Meridian Athletic Director "The magazine is slick, glossy and does a great job of covering local sports." Guy Grubbs, Indianapolis Washington Athletic Director "I like the fact that VYPE is willing to cover all high school sports and not just the ones that have the most attendance or bring in the most money to high school budgets. I believe this allows all student-athletes the chance to become interested in your magazine because you show interest in them." Tom Finchum, Indianapolis Lutheran Athletic Director "I really like the great feature articles and especially the AWESOME pictures." Noel Heminger, Franklin Community Athletic Director "My favorite cover was the Crispus Attucks' basketball cover. So many of our high school students don't know the true story of the Attucks' basketball team and all the obstacles that they and many more athletes had to overcome in the past;  I think pictures and articles like that help our athletes of today respect and understand just how special the game of basketball and other sports really are." Tom Finchum, Indianapolis Lutheran Athletic Director "I like VYPE's articles that show the student-athlete as just that, a student and an athlete - human interest. I also like the "Where Are They Now?" feature, in particular the recent one on Pat Roy. People forget (and shouldn't) what she went through to pave a path for young women in the area of sports." Michelle Repar, Morristown Athletic Director "I enjoy VYPE's concise and clearly written articles and good, crisp pictures. Plus, it's exclusively about high school sports and high school athletes and coaches." Kevin Horrigan, Greenfield-Central Athletic Director "The magazine is outstanding. Anytime you are featuring high school athletes doing great things, it's a real positive. I really enjoy how excited our kids get when VYPE comes out each month. The first thing they do is look for Royals. The second thing they do is look for team and athletes they compete against." Jim Self, Hamilton Southeastern Co-Athletic Director I really enjoy the variety of topics covered in the magazine and the ancillary articles from coaches and sports activities outside the usual "team" sports. The vast array of articles gives the magazine a very comprehensive feel to its coverage. The action photos are a great part of the publication, too. Brad Lennon, Park Tudor Athletic Director
