VYPE High School Sports Magazine (Central Indiana) is proud to welcome the addition of award-winning journalist Mark Morrow to its writing staff. Beginning this month, Morrow will contribute as an online writer where he will provide his views and perspectives on high school sports and trends. His exclusive online segment called "My View/Your View" will run twice a week. Born and raised in Kokomo, Ind., Morrow has been an Indiana journalist for 45 years and graduated from Kokomo High School in 1965. Morrow began his career in newspapers at the age of 16 with The Kokomo Tribune before becoming sports editor at The Michigan City News-Dispatch in 1975. That same year, he became the youngest president of the Indiana Sportswriters-Sportscasters Association. In 1980-81, he was elected president of the Associated Press Sports Editors. Morrow, a three-time Indiana finalist for the National Sportswriters-Sportscasters Association Sportswriter of the Year award, began working for The Indianapolis News in 1983. Since, he has covered high schools, colleges and pro sports and was the beat writer for the Indiana Pacers from 1984-86. Morrow served as High School Coordinator for both The Indianapolis News and The Indianapolis Star. He worked for The Indianapolis Star until Aug. 19, 2008. On Dec. 1, 2008, Morrow released his first book, "Have Laptop, Did Travel," a newspaper journalist's memoirs on Sports' Grandest Stage.
