Central Indiana cheer squads earn honors at state championships

Cascade High School brought home the gold at the 2008 Indiana High School State Cheer Championships held at New Castle Fieldhouse last weekend. Winning their first state title in school history, Cascade was awarded the top-prize at the varsity 2A level. The Mount Vernon freshman squad placed first in their division with Carmel finishing runner-up. Anderson Highland captured top honors in the small coed division while Greenfield-Central earned runner-up distinction in the large coed competition. Mount Vernon also won a second-place medal in the varsity 3A division. Carmel and Pendleton Heights were second and third, respectively, at the varsity 4A level. Danville was third in the varsity 3A division. Hamilton Southeastern was named the winner of the junior varsity competition.
