Carmel's Morgan, Hammes chosen as Athletes of the Year

Jessie Hammes helped Carmel continue one dynasty. Morgan Newton nearly started another one. Hammes, who led the Greyhounds to their 23rd consecutive swimming state title, and Newton, who led Carmel to a Class 5A state runner-up finish in football, are this year's Carmel High School Female and Male Athletes of the Year, as nominated to The Indianapolis Star by athletic director Jim Inskeep.
