Annual All-Star Softball Doubleheader Set for This Weekend

This Saturday, Ben Davis High School will host the Indiana Coaches of Girls Sports Association's North-South All-Star Softball Showcase.

The doubleheader event begins at 11 a.m. with the first game set to begin at 11:15 a.m. The second game is scheduled to follow approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of the first.

The South team will be coached by Roncalli's David Lauck and New Palestine's Ed Marcum, who led the Class 3A Dragons to back-to-back state titles this season.

Some of the out-going Indianapolis-area seniors expected to play for the South team are Sara Evans of New Palestine, Emily Gwaltney and Katerine Belsito of Center Grove, Ashley Warrum and Tiffany Held of Pendleton Heights, Hannah Zimmerman of Scecina, Jennifer Barnett of Roncalli, Jenny Esparza of Avon, Erika Petruzzi of Carmel, Kathleen Maloof of Hamilton Southeastern, Jennifer DeMotte of Franklin Central and Alicia Garrison of Decatur Central.

During the event, the ICGSA will honor the 2008-09 Softball Coach of the Year and will name the 2009 Miss Softball recipient.
