Records are nice, and they are something that the No. 1 Park Tudor girls tennis team is no stranger to. But the record that the Panthers tied at Saturday's girls tennis state finals won't soon be forgotten. After beating No. 2 Munster in the championship match, 4-1, Park Tudor became the second school to capture four straight team titles by matching the feat of Evansville Memorial (1993-96). It was the third straight year that the Panthers beat Munster in the final match of the tournament. Sophomore Caroline Emhardt notched the clinching third point at No. 2 singles, avenging a regular-season loss to previously undefeated Christiana Lee of Munster. And what a story for Park Tudor's No. 1 doubles team of seniors Elizabeth Emhardt and Heather Rogers, the only seniors on the squad and co-captains. Emhardt and Rogers as a tandem were an integral part of all four championships during their careers, having never lost a state finals match. The pair will continue onto the individual state finals this upcoming weekend at North Central. Meanwhile, the other local team making an appearance at the Final 4 was the ladies from Zionsville. After narrowly getting edged by Munster in the semis, 3-2, the Eagles came back strong with a 3-2 win over Jasper to take third place overall. In that match, HSSTM June cover girl Danielle Hansen closed out her career with 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles. Fellow senior Margo Harrington also finished up her career with a 6-3, 6-3 victory at No. 2 singles. To see the full results from the championship and consolation matches, visit ihsaa.org.
