Kyle Detmer's junior season ended with a bitter taste in his mouth. Detmer lost in the state championship match to Pete Tapia of Winfield in an upset, but nothing will keep down this strong wrestler and future Oklahoma Sooner.
"I liked OU because they had a lot more coaches there," Detmer said. "It's cool because they're not really paid coaches, they're more like volunteers, and they help a ton."

The City League released its annual all-city picks on Monday. The first team may be full of more Division I prospects than any all-city team in history. Richardson Canyon Creek Christian senior libero Annie Meyer signed a national letter of intent Tuesday to play at Iowa State.
Meyer played on Canyon Creek's TAPPS state volleyball title teams in 2007 and 2008, and was a gold medalist at the junior nationals in 2005.
She will play or coach Christy Johnson who guided Iowa State to the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA Tournament last season. ... More

Daviess County won the boys 3A cross country championship on Saturday, at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington. Daviess County scored 98 points and outdistanced St.X (113) and Trinity (118).
