Western Arkansas has the East side’s number. Winning in every sport so far in the All-Star sports week, they continued the sweep tonight’s matchup.
Lead by in season rivals Fred Gulley from Fayetteville High School and Aaron Hawley from Rogers; the West finished the night over the century mark, beating the East 101-88. Gulley and Hawley together scored 27 points and both were awarded post game honors. Gulley was named the West’s outstanding player and Hawley took home the games Most Valuable Player.
“It was good to come out in front of the hometown fans,” said Gulley. “It’s a great event, I got to do a lot of fun things and meet a lot of new players. This kind of wraps it up and now I am on to my college career.”
For the East there were several All-Star moments especially from Conway’s Jarvis Garner. Garner had 18 points, six rebounds and was awarded the East’s outstanding player.
Sports action continues on Friday when the East will attempt to stop the All-Star sweep by the West in the All-Star football game.
